Vintage Kantha Quilts

‘Kantha’ (pronounced KARN- ta) is a Sanskrit word given to the blanket village women would make by layering old saris or cloth, and sewing them together with hundreds of tiny lines of hand-stitching. Each quilt would take up to a week of patient work to make.

Today these quilts are revered for their humble origins and recognised as a beautiful handicraft of India.
