Antique baby rattle

This gorgeous piece is an antique baby rattle made from solid brass with intricate jaali patternwork, an ornate handle and beautiful engraved peacock on top. 

This piece has several small bells inside, and would have been gifted to a family with a new baby as an heirloom piece, not a toy. 

Brass is considered an auspicious metal in India, believed to bring wealth and good fortune.
