Small Ravi Varma oleographs

These pieces are genuine oleographs of Ravi Varma’s paintings.

1) ‘Rama’s archery training’ painted in 1898, depicting a scene from the Ramayana, when Rama learns the divine art of using a celestial weapon. 

2) ‘Shukrambha’ painted in the late 19th C, this is an illustration of the Hindu myth of Rambha, a celestial nymph who tried to seduce the wise sage Shuka.

Raja Ravi Varma is a celebrated Indian artist who blended traditional Indian mythology with European realism.

These pieces are lithographs printed by the illustrious Chitrashula Press of Pune, which famously produced copies of Ravi Varma’s art.
