Antique tikka box

This wonderful antique peacock tikka box is a feat of magnificent construction!

Featuring 6 teardrop shaped petals, each with a delicate hinge to open the compartments singularly, and a little peacock moulded onto each petal.  

This 100yr old piece was used to store tikka powders and pastes that were used to make a tilak on the forehead. 

The entire box is locked by a single peacock screw, a symbol of grace, beauty and divine protection….
